GiGis was Started by a Mom

GiGi’s Playhouse was not built by a corporation or a committee — it was built by a mom. In this clip from Good News York, Ruth Ann Riposa, interim board president of GiGi’s Playhouse Syracuse, shares the origin of the organization and what makes it unlike anything else. GiGi’s was founded by a mother who learned her daughter would be born with Down syndrome and refused to accept anything less than the best for her child. That spirit is felt the moment anyone walks through the doors. As Ruth Ann puts it, regardless of ability or diagnosis, every family that steps inside knows they are in a place created by people who truly want the best for their child.
