Lorna Shore | 5.20.26 | Sharkey’s Bar and Grill | Liverpool, NY |

Lorna Shore is taking the deathcore scene to new heights, and I had no doubt this show was going to be one for the books. Between some killer openers and the visuals that come along with their stage performances, I still didn’t feel ready for how awesome this show was going to be. Considering I live less than 3 miles away from Sharkey’s and there was a longer-than-anticipated line to get in, the anticipation grew. Sharkey’s never disappoints, with their setup being one of the best in the area. Food, beer, and good music? Say less. With the atmosphere set, the openers were about to bring the energy.

I was able to catch the second half of Signs of the Swarm once I made it through the security. The crowd was ready to absorb the Swarm, circle pits already in full form. Fans in line to get in watched and head banged along, warming up their neck muscles for what’s to come, haha. If fans hadn’t heard of them before, they knew now.

Paleface Swiss was next, and there is no doubt that this band has continued to grow in popularity. Their stage presence was immediate, and they stood out. If a death metal band from Switzerland wasn’t cool enough, their stage presence reminded you why. Lead singer Zelli expressed his gratitude for the crowd’s energy and continued on, stomping across the stage. I knew this band was popular when a friend texted me to grab some crowd videos from their set to send over. Performing songs “The Orphan”, “Everything is Fine”, and wrapping up with “Please End Me”, the sun was setting, and it felt like the perfect tone to launch into Lorna Shore with ease.

With the sold-out crowd filling every open space at Sharkey’s, including the boat, iykyk, the crowd was ready for the anticipated headliner. The visuals alone for their entrance and song “Oblivion” from their latest album to start off the night, I was blown away. Multicolored lights of tones together, I haven’t seen in quite a bit, capturing just a dream essence with visuals on the scenes to match. Their drummer was perched high enough for everyone to see, atop the screens of visual beauty. Fans sang along with lead singer Will Ramos as if they were all in unison, sitting around a campfire. With pits swallowing up half the crowd, fans surged, finding any place to watch the masterpiece as they sang through fan favorites “Sun//Eater” and “Glenwood”, lyrics hitting fans like a tidal wave.

Lorna Shore fans continued on their journey that the band brought them through, not slowing down a beat as they sang through the last three songs of their album Pain Remains, bringing fans through to their finale. The melodies carried us through the pain and grief coming palatable from Will’s lyrics, the weight crashing into us above the stars for a show that fans at Sharkey’s will remember for a while. They gave fans an encore of “To the Hellfire” to end their monumental show in Liverpool, NY, one of the final stops of their tour. Lorna Shore won’t forget the energy Liverpool brought, and I believe we’ll be seeing this band again for another memorable sold-out night.

If you’ve never heard of Lorna Shore, they released the album I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me last year, so now’s your time to catch up on the years of incredible music this band has brought to the deathcore scene with stunning vocals and a new sound to the scene. They are a refreshing breath of fresh air, paving the way for new styles of deathcore to emerge. And with that, we’ll see you in the pit next time.
